Abstract: This empirical study which draws upon operational military environments, offers prescriptive guidelines for leaders required to operate in similar domains of extreme contexts and dynamic institutional environments. From this empirical research-in-progress, emerges a nine-factor leader framework, which defines successful grassroots transformational leadership appropriate for an environment, characterized by increasing complexity of the work-environment, changing nature of team-/collaborative- work, and the followers’ needs for affiliation, achievement, and empowerment.
