Abstract: This paper applies Herendeen’s methodology for deriving energy costs and energy intensities for the Indian economy. An idea of the part energy plays in the cost structure of various goods and services as well as the intensities of energy requirements in various activities is obtained from this analysis. The methodology will be helpful for energy planners to project and control energy consumption in the economy.
