Title: Corporate Strategy of Indian Organizations: The 'Root-Branch' Framework

Abstract: Indian organizations need rigorous and clear corporate strategy approaches to be successful in the globalizing and complex business environment. This paper argues that none of the strategy frameworks and responses evolved in the American context is appropriate and adequate. Based on the imperatives in evolutionary and emerging contexts, the author suggests a ‘root-branch’ framework. In the coming decade, corporate strategy of Indian organizations needs to be built around the root of being honest and being world-class and one of the three branches or strategic directions—India focused, India diversified, and global focused.
