Title: Technology and Economic Growth: Quo Vadis, India?

Abstract: This paper addresses four major questions: i) What drives economic growth? ii) How can this growth be improved and sustained? iii) How can it spread across the country? iv) What will be the reaction of the developed countries to such challenges? Drawing from the economic growth theories, it demonstrates how technological innovations worked as the engine propelling economic growth of cities and nations. The author closely studies the case of information and communication technology-based growth of Bangalore and attributes it to the social, cultural, and infrastructural factors unique to the city.
