Title: A Decision Theoretic Estimation in Exponential Product Life Testing Model Using Guesstimate
Authors: Sharad Saxena
Issue/Year: Oct-2006
Section: Research
Abstract: This paper considers the problem of estimating the kth exponent of the scale parameter which is a universal parametric function in assessing a variety of measures in an exponential life distribution. A family of shrunken estimators has been proposed and its properties are discussed. A guesstimate that is had from developing a causal relationship in an accelerated life testing model has been used to improve the estimate. It is identified that the estimators reported in the past are particular members of the suggested family of estimators. The per cent relative efficiencies have been tabulated illustrating that the proposed estimator is preferable to the corresponding minimum mean squared error estimator.
